Hawaii Part 1 - June 2011

Hi all...

We arrived late last night (it was only 6:30 PM here...but actually 12:30 AM Toronto time) and the flights, baggage pickup and car rental all went smoothly.

It was very overcast...looked like it was going to storm (but didn't) and by 7:15 we were on our way to the hotel in Waikiki. We were amazed by sunset (about 7 PM) and by the throngs of people and the amount of shopping that was going on for a Sunday night.

We found the Sheraton Waikiki with little trouble and we are on thye 15th floor (nice hotel, decent room). We unpacked, and drove out to Safeway to get some essentials and we were shocked by the cost of basic items....food costs are horrendous here and we were not even in the touristy district. We were able to get tons of stuff with an OU and made it back to the hotel by 10:30 PM.

I was up today at 5 AM and Fran is still sleeping....we will hopefully be out and about by about 8 this morning....will email you guys later....
