Hawaii Part 8 - June 2011

Dear All:

BH we arrived safely...I have been on small planes before and this was SMALL...Fran banged her head when she forgot that you have to duck to walk down the aisle in the plane....for one of the only times in her life, Fran felt very tall at this point. There were 5 of us on the plane and you knew that you were in for an experience when they weighed each passenger with their carry ons to decide where to seat each person so that the load was balanced. Single engine Cessna with only one pilot....time for Tefillat Haderech big time!!! Made a mental note to always check what type of aircraft when making flight reservations in the future.

Anyway the flight was 2 and a half hours late but a smooth and uneventful 40 minutes....what was most amazing was at this commuter terminal there was zero security...we did not have to put our luggage or ourselves thru a scanner....no questions asked and no passports needed....just like the old days!

We got our car and drove to the Kaanapalli side of the island and found our condo and the lockbox with no difficulty, and then went to the local market for some essential food shopping.

It is a small but beautiful condo....and the location....I am sitting in our living room literally a few feet from the ocean shore and watching and listening to the ocean waves...other than the sides of a neighbouring balcony, we can see just ocean and in the distance the outline of Molokai and LanĂ¡i, two neighbouring islands. We slept last night with the windows and patio doors open to the constant sound of waves crashing against the shore...very soothing!

Hope all is well

Fran and David
